The Secret Garden
As far as children movies go, this is one of my favorites. It captivated me when I was young and still is very good and beautiful. The best thing about children movies is the intrinsics that make up their stories. It just isn't the realignment of a regular story to suit kids, but the focus of a story on belief mixed with life. As the quote goes, "childhood ends when you know you're going to die," so too Secret Garden exists in a world that is magical and even deals with the nature of childhood. Everything is simple and the most important thing is the family unit. There is no happenstance to lead the characters to their destination, but a belief in the power of magic and love. Films about adults have take the reality of the world in tow, but children movies exist to wonder and elicit our basic core feelings. A simple story told in the English countryside with picturesque cinematography and quality acting and charm by all children involved isn't a bad start. The Secret Garden is a pleasure.
