The Rise of the Creative Class: And How It's Transforming Work, Leisure, Community and Everyday Life - Richard Florida
Richard Florida is trying to dominate this new subject. He writes with such frequency on the subject of the creative class that he resembles an artist who came up with an original idea and doesn't grow beyond it. The creative class is an original idea by Florida. That being said, he does come to some interesting conclusions. His idea of a casual business world accepting of all kinds of people has commentary about the future of economics and urban design in the cities of the future. A lot of this book is based on personal experience by Florida but a lot is also based on imagined theoretics of how the future will look like. Considering many books that are about the future have truly left field ideas, Florida's ability to make some logical forecasts for the future sets him apart from other writers. His downfall has to be that this is only one of many books he has written about the subject. I only read this one but it is already so exhausting of the subject that I'm not sure what else can be said.
