Little Nicky
My favorite of the early Adam Sandler comedies. Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore seemed like half hour versions of the Sandler persona extended to 90 minutes. The extra 60 minutes weren't there to include better jokes, but to just have a plot that took longer to find its predictable resolution. Little Nicky has Sandler as a character unlike any of his earlier incarnations and with supporting characters that are developed instead of comic oddities off to the side. Little Nicky is also more fun and inventive. The other movies are repititions of the same Sandler joke, but Little Nicky seems to take on inspiration from all corners of the comedy world. Nothing about this movie stands close to Punch-Drunk Love, but so what? It's good fun and a perfect movie to relax to.
